Virgil Ross Rabbit Hood-Inspired Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990). Bugs Bunny meets the Sheriff of Nottingham in this original illustration by legendary animator Virgil Ross. The award-winning Mr. Ross is best remembered for his long association with Warner Brothers, where he and Tex Avery created Bugs in the 1940 cartoon, A Wild Hare. He spent time at several studios, working with Ub Iwerks, Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng, and Bob Clampett. In this original sketch, done in blue pencil and graphite by Mr. Ross, Bugs is held at bay by the overzealous Sheriff ("O-ho, varlet! Caught crimson-fisted!"). The art is drawn on a sheet of 12 field animation paper, with image sizes of 6.5" and 8". Signed by Mr. Ross in the lower right corner.
