    Description

Virgil Ross - Porky Pig and Sylvester Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s).
This is an original drawing of Porky and Sylvester, who is holding a gun to his own head! Chuck Jones directed a trio of cartoons featuring Porky and Sylvester as weary travelers who pick the wrong place to spend the night -- Scardey Cat (1948), where Porky buys a gothic house filled with killer mice; Claws For Alarm (1954) with the pair resting in a ghost town hotel that's also filled with (mostly unseen) mice; and Jumpin' Jupiter (1955), where Porky and Syl are on a camping trip interrupted by a flying saucer filled with weird aliens. Porky is always the last to realize the danger, but not Sylvester! This drawing was created by longtime Warner Brothers animator, Virgil Ross. Mr. Ross was known for his action and dance sequences, as well as his funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. This signed piece is drawn on 12 field animation paper, with image sizes of 6.5" and 7.5". Fine condition.
