    Description

Virgil Ross - Pepé Le Pew Drawing Original Artwork (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s) In constant search for love and affection Pepé Le Pew, a French striped skunk, was repeatedly rejected due to his offensive skunk odor and aggressive pursuit of romance. Renowned Warner Brothers animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) has beautifully captured the confident and seductive moods of Pepe in this series of six model-like drawings. Virgil Ross was a long-time Warner Brothers animator who worked in the Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, and Friz Freleng Units. He was famous for his action and dance sequences, as well as his facial expressions. He worked on three Looney Tunes shorts that received Academy Award nominations -- Tweety Pie, Birds Anonymous and Knighty Knight Bugs. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of progressions of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Masters Collection" for the Warner Brothers Studio Stores and animation galleries. He began making personal appearances where he created one-of-a-kind drawings of the Looney Toons characters as well as other cartoons he worked on. This Pepé Le Pew drawing is on 16 field 3-peghole paper, and the six images are 4.5" - 5.75". Images are graphite with blue pencil underdrawing. Signed in the lower right hand aspect. Fine condition.
