Virgil Ross - Marvin Martian Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Virgil Ross (1907-1996) was a long-time Warner Brothers animator who worked in the Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, and Friz Freleng Units and was known for his action and dance sequences. Mr. Ross animated on three Looney Tunes shorts that received Academy Award nominations and in 1988 was awarded the prestigious Windsor McCay award. He began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of progressions of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Masters Collection" for the Warner Brothers Studio Stores and animation galleries. At personal appearances requests were made for original artwork which resulted in drawings such as this. Here is an original 11.5" x 5" drawing of Marvin Martian signed by Virgil Ross on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper. The paper shows minor handling and condition is Fine.
