Virgil Ross - Looney Tunes Multi-Character Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Yosemite Sam leads the Looney Tunes gang in song, in this lively sketch that includes images of (from left to right) Henery Hawk, Tweety, Foghorn Leghorn, Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck. Legendary animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) worked at Warners for four decades, as part of the Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, and Friz Freleng units. Three of the shorts he worked on went on to win Oscars: Tweety Pie (1947), Birds Anonymous (1957), and Knighty Knight Bugs (1958). Mr. Ross himself won two prestigious awards: the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Golden Award, and the Winsor McCay Award. His series of "Masters Collection" limited edition cels were big sellers at the Warner Bros. stores and animation galleries. Mr. Ross drew this piece on a sheet of 12 field animation paper, with a combined image area of 11" x 8.5". Fine condition. Signed along the bottom edge of the area.
