    Virgil Ross - I love to Singa Owl Jolson Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s) "I love to singa... about the moon-a and the June-a and the spring-a!" This Merry Melodies short has taken on a cult-like following and there isn't a Warner Brothers animation fan that doesn't recognize this song and the little owl who sang it. Based on Al Jolson's The Jazz Singer, it's considered one of Tex Avery's early masterpieces. This original drawing is by legendary Warner Brothers animator, Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). It's rendered on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper in graphite and colored pencil and signed by the artist. Drawings like this were done at personal appearances at the Warner Brothers Studio Stores and Animation Galleries to promote a line of limited edition cels. The the big beautiful image of everyone's favorite little owl measures a whopping 6.5" x 6". The paper shows light handling and condition is Fine.
