    Description

Virgil Ross - Foghorn Leghorn "Model Sheet" Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s).
Brash, talkative ruler of the roost Foghorn Leghorn stars in this original model sheet-style drawing. He was introduced in the 1946 Robert McKimson-directed cartoon, Walky Talky Hawky. His Southern-accented voice was inspired by radio comedian Kenny Delmar, whose character "Senator Clanghorn" was famous for his blustery "That's a joke, ah say, that's a joke, son" sayings, which Foghorn adopted. This great drawing of six different Foggy poses on 16 field animation paper was created by longtime Warner Brothers animator, Virgil Ross. Mr. Ross was known for his action and dance sequences, as well as his funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. Image sizes on this signed piece range from 5" to 7". Fine condition.
