Description

Virgil Ross - Foghorn Leghorn and Miss Prissy Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Let me guess, dearie. You're looking for a husband!" This scene of Miss Prissy and Foghorn was inspired by the 1951 short Lovelorn Leghorn, directed by Robert McKimson. Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) was a longtime Warner Brothers animator who excelled with action and dance sequences, as well as funny facial expressions. He animated on several Looney Tunes shorts that received Academy Award nominations, and four that actually won - Tweety Pie (1947), Speedy Gonzales (1955), Birds Anonymous (1957), and Knighty Knight Bugs (1958). In 1988, he was a recipient of the prestigious Winsor McCay Award. In the '90s he began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels as part of the "Masters Collection" for the Warner Brothers Studio Stores and animation galleries. He began making personal appearances where requests for original artwork were met with these types of drawings. This signed drawing is matted with an opening of 11.5" x 8.5", and is framed with glass for an overall size of 15" x 12". Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Fine.
