Description
Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny with the Marx Brothers Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Bugs fills in for Groucho at the Mocrumbo nightclub, in this scene inspired by the classic 1947 Friz Freleng theatrical short, Slick Hare. Lead animator Virgil Ross was an important member of Freleng's animation unit at Warner Brothers, specializing in dance sequences (like this cartoon's scenes with "Carmen Miranda" and a samba-dancing Bugs); his 50-plus years in the business also included stints with Walter Lantz (Oswald the Rabbit shorts), DePatie-Freleng (The Pink Panther Show), Hanna-Barbera (The Flintstones, Smurfs), Filmation (The Archie Show, Star Trek: The Animated Series), as well as freelance work for Ralph Bakshi (Fritz the Cat) and Walt Disney (The Little Mermaid) -- and that's only a small portion of his output. Whew! This is a signed original drawing by Virgil Ross on 12 field animation paper, with figure image sizes of 2.5" to 4.5". Fine condition.More information about Virgil Ross.
