Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny with K-9 and Marvin the Martian Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!" Marvin and his trusty sidekick K-9 confront Bugs, in this scene inspired by the 1958 Chuck Jones-directed theatrical short, Hare-Way to the Stars. Longtime Warner Brothers animator Virgil Ross created this fun drawing on 12 field animation paper. Mr. Ross was known for his action and dance sequences, as well as his funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. This signed piece is drawn on 12 field animation paper, with an approximate combined image area of 11" x 8".
