Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny in an Airplane Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Bugs flies his "Carrot Express" bi-plane in this great illustration by longtime Warner Brothers animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). Mr. Ross worked on what is considered the first official Bugs Bunny cartoon, A Wild Hare (1940), as part of director Tex Avery's unit; he also worked with Bob Clampett and Friz Freleng before moving on to Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, and others. His awards include the prestigious Winsor McCay Award (1988); three of his Warner Bros. cartoons went on to win Oscars. Mr. Ross created this drawing on a sheet of 12 field animation paper, with an overall image area measuring approximately 8" x 4.5". Fine condition. Signed in the lower right.
