Description

Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny, Evil Scientist, and Gossamer Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Uh oh! Think fast, rabbit!" Bugs finds himself up against an evil scientist modeled after Boris Karloff, as well as hairy, tennis shoe-wearing monster Gossamer (aka "Rudolf"), in this scene inspired by the 1952 Chuck Jones-directed short, Water, Water Every Hare. This remarkable drawing was created by longtime Warner Brothers animator, Virgil Ross, who was known for his portrayal of action and dance sequences, and funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He also worked for several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. stores and animation galleries. This signed piece is drawn on paper, matted with an opening of 12" x 9" (with small "extensions" for Gossamer), and framed with glass for an overall size of 17" x 14". Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Fine.
