Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Witch Hazel Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s).A trussed-up Bugs is "entertained" by Witch Hazel, in this outstanding illustration by Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996); it's inspired by the classic short, Broomstick Bunny. Mr. Ross had a long career as an animator, going back to the 1930s; he worked with top-tier directors like Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, and Friz Freleng at Warners, before moving on to Hanna-Barbera and Filmation in the 1970s. Along the way, he picked up a couple of prestigious awards, including the Winsor McCay award in 1988. Mr. Ross drew this piece on a sheet of 12 field animation paper, with a combined image area of 10" x 7.25". Fine condition. Signed in the lower right.
