Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Witch Hazel Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Witch Hazel entertains her guest, Bugs Bunny in this original drawing by Virgil Ross, inspired by the Chuck Jones-directed short, Broom-Stick Bunny (1956). Mr. Ross was a long-time Warner Brothers animator who worked in units headed by Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, and Friz Freleng; he was well known for his action and dance sequences, and his way with funny expressions. In addition to his time at Warners, his résumé included stints with several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. He was awarded the prestigious Winsor McCay award in 1988. This signed piece is drawn on 12 field animation paper, with a large combined image area of 10.5" x 7". Fine condition
