Description

Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Sergeant Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). When a draft notice addressed to "B. Bonny" gets delivered to Bugs by mistake, the little gray rabbit finds himself in the Army, where practically no one notices he's not a "typical" soldier! This Virgil Ross drawing of Bugs and his confused drill sergeant was inspired by the 1953 Chuck Jones-directed short, Forward March Hare. Animation legend Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) worked on what is considered the first official Bugs Bunny cartoon, A Wild Hare (1940), as part of director Tex Avery's unit. He also worked with Bob Clampett and Friz Freleng before moving on to Hanna-Barbera Studios, Filmation, and others. His awards include the prestigious Winsor McCay Award and three of his Warner Brothers cartoons went on to win Oscars. This signed drawing is matted with an opening of 12" x 9", and framed using glass for an overall size of 17" x 14". The frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Fine.
