Description

Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Penguin Illustration (Warner Brothers, c.1990s). Bugs finds himself with a new little friend after making yet another wrong turn at Albuquerque (he really needs to get a better map!) and winding up at the South Pole, in the 1949 Chuck Jones-directed short, Frigid Hare. Here's a very cool (and we do mean cool) drawing of Bugs and the penguin as seen at the end of the short, by longtime animation artist Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). Mr. Ross was well known in the studio for his knack with action and dance sequences, and his funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross received the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. This signed piece has an image size of approximately 5.25" x 10". The art is matted with an opening of 10" x 12", and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 16" x 18" x 1.5". The frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Fine.
