    Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Marvin the Martian Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Bugs is confronted by soft-spoken invader Marvin the Martian and his dog K-9 in this terrific illustration by longtime Warner Brothers animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). Marvin debuted in the 1948 Bugs Bunny cartoon, Haredevil Hare, proving to be a very popular character. Mr. Ross was animator on scads of WB cartoon shorts in the 1930s through the '60s, working with Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, and Friz Freleng; he also contributed to several WB feature-length cartoons, as well as movies and TV series work for Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, Disney, and others. This piece, drawn by Mr. Ross on a sheet of 12 field animation paper, with an overall image area measuring 11" x 8". Fine condition. Signed in the lower right.
