Description

Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Gas-House Gorilla Drawing (Warner Brothers, 1990s). Bugs gets the attention of one of his opponents in this fan-favorite Looney Tunes short, Baseball Bugs. The 1946 Friz Freleng-directed theatrical cartoon was in part animated by Award-winning artist Virgil Ross; eagle-eyed viewers can spot his name on one of the stadium's billboards "Ross Co. Finer Footwear for the Brats". Mr. Ross worked on what is considered the first official Bugs Bunny cartoon, A Wild Hare (1940) during his many years at Warner Brothers, working in animation units headed by Tex Avery, Robert Clampett, and Freleng; in addition, he spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. In the early '90s, Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. This signed piece is drawn on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper, with a combined image area of 8" x 11". Minor handling and condition is Fine
