Description
Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Cecil Turtle Sequenced Pan Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Cecil Turtle mystifies Bugs during their race by constantly appearing ahead of him, in this original sequenced pan drawing inspired by the 1947 Friz Freleng-directed short, Rabbit Transit, a sequel to both Tortoise Beats Hare (1941) and Tortoise Wins by a Hare (1943). The art is by someone who worked on those cartoons, longtime WB animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). Mr. Ross was famous for his action and dance sequences, as well as for his knack with funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for (or won) Academy Awards, and Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He also spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. This superb signed piece is drawn on pan animation paper, with image sizes ranging from 2" to 6". The art is matted with an opening of 24.5" x 9.5", and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 33.75" x 18.75". Frame is sold as-is. Art paper shows minor handling wear, and is in Very Good condition.More information about Virgil Ross. See also: Ross, Virgil Artist.
