DescriptionVirgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Carmen Miranda Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Bugs plucks a banana from Carmen Miranda's "tutti-fruitti hat" in this illustration, inspired by the classic 1947 Merrie Melodies short, "Slick Hare". Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) was lead animator for this Friz Freleng-directed cartoon, one of many Bugs Bunny cartoons he was involved with during his long career. In addition to Warners, Mr. Ross worked for several other studios, including Hanna- Barbera and Filmation, where he worked on the animated Star Trek series. This piece was drawn by Mr. Ross in graphite over blue pencil on a sheet of 12 field 3-peghole animation paper. The combined image area measures approximately 12" x 5" and is signed by the artist in the lower left. Very light handling and Fine condition.
