    Description

Victor Haboush World War II Plane and Ship Painting (Warner Brothers, 1999). This stirring war scene featuring a fighter plane soaring above is the work of animation legend Vic Haboush (1924-2009). During World War II, he took part in the D-Day landings at Normandy as a member of the Coast Guard, and later served in the Pacific theater. Following the War, he attended Art Center College of Design. In 1952, he was hired at Disney on the recommendation of his Art Center classmate Eyvind Earle. Mr. Haboush became one of the trailblazing young animators of the '50s who broke away from the cute "Disney Style" to create a more modern look. His impressive list of credits include assistant art direction on Toot Whistle Plunk and Boom, and layout on Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and 101 Dalmatians. Art is in gouache on illustration board, with an image size of 18.75" x 13.75". The piece shows some minor handling wear; otherwise, condition is Fine. From the Vic Haboush Archives.
