Two-Gun Mickey Mickey Mouse and Pete Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1933).
Minnie Mouse is no helpless damsel but rather a gutsy Western gal who rebuffs Mickey's initial overtures: "On your way, cowboy: I can take care of myself!" But when Cowgirl Minnie makes a substantial withdrawal from the bank and leaves with a large sack of money, Peg Leg Pete sees her. He gathers his gang of desperados to chase her down, hoping to take the sack of money from her. Cowboy Mickey sees the chase unfolding from his high perch, and rides down to save her. When he gets into a fight with Pete, the outlaw pulls a knife on our hero. We see this depicted in this rare vintage animation drawing. You will find this dramatic image around the 8:19 mark in Walt Disney's 1934 short subject film, Two-Gun Mickey. This picture marks the directorial debut of Ben Sharpsteen with animation by Eric Larson who will go on to become one of "Walt's Nine Old Men" and a Disney Legend Inductee. Two-Gun Mickey was released to theaters on 12/15/34. The drawing was rendered in graphite with red pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. The piece is noted as 35. Mild toning of the paper due to the age of the piece. Artwork is in Very Good condition.
