Description

Tugboat Mickey Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). "Oh my gosh! A shipwreck! Ahoy! All hands on deck!" Dressed in a pea coat and peaked captain's hat, Mickey sounds the alarm - the steamship 'Gigantic' has run aground! Mickey is the captain of a tugboat, and Goofy and Donald make up what may well be the most inept pair of crewmen in maritime history. After managing to destroy the boat completely, the group learns that the announcement they'd heard was nothing more than a realistic radio drama - much like Orson Wells' ill-fated "War of the Worlds" broadcast on Halloween,1938. The short was released on 4/26/40 and was directed by Clyde Geronimi. This full-body depiction of Mickey is noted as number 65 in the lower right and can be seen near the 02:19 mark in the film. With a worried look on his face, he alerts his crew to the trouble. Rendered in graphite and color pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. Very light handling. In Very Good condition.
