DescriptionTrader Mickey Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1932).
Mickey Mouse and Pluto are traveling up an African river with a cargo of goods which includes musical instruments. After they hit land, Mickey and Pluto are captured by cannibals who plan to eat them. However when one of the cannibals uses a saxophone to stir the pot with Mickey, he takes the sax away from the cannibal and begins to play it and they all start jamming to "The Darktown Strutter's Ball." Trader Mickey was directed by David Hand and released on 8/20/32. Walt Disney not only produced Trader Mickey but he provided the voice for Mickey along with vaudeville actor, Pinto Clovig who voiced Pluto. The layout was created using graphite on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper and noted "camera turned sideways." The image area measures 6" x 8" with Mickey measuring 3" tall. The artwork has a small tear in the upper left corner well away from the image area and slight toning of the paper due to age; otherwise, the artwork is in Very Good condition.
