    Top Cat Television Story Book Cover Illustration (Hanna-Barbera/World Distributors, 1963). This Hanna-Barbera Prime Time TV series was featured on ABC, with the first episode airing on 9/21/61. It featured Top Cat, with his crew of Benny the Ball, Choo-Choo, Brain, Fancy-Fancy, and Spook, with Officer Dibble the neighborhood policeman. The cats all lived in the alley, in garbage cans. This is a rare original published Whitman annual cover painting of all the show's characters. This was the fourth in Whitman's series of Top Cat books. The artwork for the first Little Golden Book featuring Top Cat was done by Haley Pratt and Al White. Other early Hanna-Barbera Whitman work was done by Mel Crawford. This cover illustration is painted in gouache on illustration board measuring 12" x 16"; painted area is 13.5" x 10", with camera registration tabs on the border. Early Hanna-Barbera published book art is considered very rare. Minor handling and edge wear. In Very Good condition.
