Tom and Jerry Gag Illustration of Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera (MGM, 1944). This is something special -- an unusual in-studio gag drawing on 12-field animation paper. The gag shows Joe Barbera and Bill Hanna with animator Irv Spence, and is titled on a piece of tape "Joe and Bill look at a pencil test." Great caricatures of Bill and Joe looking at a moviolia, at Irv's work. Irv Spence has written May 4, 44 on the right bottom corner. Graphite and red pencil; in Very Good condition. This is a rare look into the early days of making Tom and Jerry cartoons for MGM.
