    Description

Toby Tortoise Returns Toby and Max Animation Drawings Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1936). Max Hare races in with a big box of fireworks and Toby Tortoise prepares to put up his dukes in this pair of original 12 field 5-peghole animation drawings from the Silly Symphony short directed by Wilfred Jackson. Max is drawn in graphite with an array of color pencil highlights on the fireworks, and measures approximately 4.5" x 4.5", with the number 1 written in the bottom right corner. A nice full-figure image of Toby is in graphite and red pencil measuring of 4" x 6", and numbered 24 in the bottom right. The pieces show minor handling and edge wear; otherwise condition is Very Good.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
