Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Oogie Boogie and Santa Claus Storyboard Original Art Sequence of 3 (Touchstone/Walt Disney, 1993). "Well, well, well, what have we here? Sandy Claws, huh? Oh, I'm really scared!" Oogie Boogie sings an intimidating song to a captive Santa Claus in Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Here is a great sequence of three original storyboard drawings depicting moments seen at the 48:46 mark of this ground-breaking stop-motion classic. Rendered in Conté crayon, graphite and ink by none other than director Henry Selick himself, these storyboards measure 8" x 5.5" each. Henry Selick was a freelance artist in animation before attracting the attention of former classmate at CalArts, Tim Burton, which launched him into a long career of animated feature directing. His very first directorial effort was the highly successful, both commercially and critically, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. The film set a new standard for stop-motion filmmaking, and Selick would go on to direct James and the Giant Peach and Coraline among others. His friend and collaborator Joe Ranft once said of his talent, "he can articulate things through animation that people couldn't say otherwise," and this set of storyboards exemplifies that sentiment. The paper shows minor handling wear, and these fantastic pieces from the conceptual stages of the film are in Fine condition.Auction Info
