Description

The Worm Turns Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing and Character Study (Walt Disney, 1937). This is an amazing pair of production art pieces from Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse short The Worm Turns. First, we have a superb animation drawing depicting Mickey as a "mad scientist" with his "Courage Builder" formula. Mickey is in his lab coat and gloves, having just discovered his test subject... a fly trapped in a spider's web! Along with the animation drawing is a very rare character study for the spider character and Mickey. A character study is a series of illustrations that have been created to explore an animated character, after the character has been conceptualized. It acts as a comprehensive guide to map out character traits and "proof of concept." Proof of Concept in animation is the first stage of any character study definition. The Mickey drawing was rendered in graphite and red pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The study was beautifully drawn graphite and blue pencil on 9.5" x 12" unpunched animation paper. The animation drawing is in Very Good condition with mild toning and edge wear. The study exhibits age-related toning and edge wear, particularly on the top right. The study also has a fold crease and superficial wrinkling. It is in Fair condition. RARE vintage Disney production drawings like these pieces are prized by collectors of animation art and not to be missed.
