The Wayward Canary Mickey Mouse Animation Drawings Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1932). Mickey and Pluto manage to completely wreck Minnie's house, in this Burt Gillett-directed short that hit theaters on 11/12/32. It starts innocently enough, with Mickey's gift to Minnie of a canary in a bird cage; soon, the canary's hatchlings come out and wind up in an "ink bath." Rounding up the last of the baby birds (now black instead of yellow) causes the destruction. Here is a set of four original 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings from the sequence where Mickey crashes into Minnie's greenhouse while chasing the last baby bird. It can be seen at the 5:52 - 5:53 moment in the cartoon. The first drawing is numbered 1X and shows the crashed greenhouse, in graphite with red and blue pencil highlights, image size 6.75" x 2.5". The remaining three drawing all feature Mickey as he runs through the glass-paned greenhouse; #22 (image size 7" x 4", graphite); #27 (image size of Mickey and the greenhouse frame 5.75" x 4" with additional flying panes of glass, in graphite and blue pencil); and #32 (basic image size is 5.5" x 4.25" with extra glass bits). Two of the drawings have reinforced pegholes, and there is light paper toning and minor handling wear. Overall condition is Very Good.
