    Description

The Village Specialist Flip the Frog Animation Drawings Group of 8 (Ub Iwerks/Celebrity Pictures, 1931).
In this early short animated by Ub Iwerks, Flip the Frog is a plumber who gets an emergency call, but his pesky cat is intent on riding along; finally, Flip ties a rope to an anvil and then to the cat, who gets the heave-ho! The sequence with the anvil begins at the 1:55 mark. Here are five rare original 12 field 2-peghole drawings from that sequence, rendered in graphite and red pencil. Also included is a concept sketch (marked "out") of the scene where the cat (who escaped the anvil) goes fishing in the lady customer's fish bowl, plus a nicely detailed graphite and red pencil drawing of one of the fish; this sequence begins at the 6:50 mark. These drawings are all attributed to the hand of Ub Iwerks himself, as he is the sole animator credited by sources. The art paper displays some minor tanning, along with handling and edge wear, including some chipped corners. Overall condition is Very Good.
