The Sword and the Stone Signed Merlin Production Drawing (Walt Disney. 1963).
The Sword in the Stone is the 18th animated feature film from The Walt Disney Studios. The film was directed by one of "Walt's Nine Old Men", Wolfgang Reitherman and produced by Walt Disney himself. The Sword in the Stone, released on Christmas Day 1963, featured music by the Sherman Brothers. In this lot we have a magnificent production drawing of Merlin, Wart's mentor and the film's most popular character. The artwork is signed by another one of "Walt's Nine Old Men", legendary animator, Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008). This superb image of Merlin measures a whopping 11" tall, rendered in graphite on 16 field, 3-peghole animation paper. This would be a fantastic addition to any animation art collection! The artwork his very mild age-related toning. Otherwise, condition is Very Good.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
