    Description

The Steeple Chase Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1933).
In The Steeple Chase, Mickey is the jockey riding Thunderbolt, a prize horse ready to run in a steeple chase race. Colonel Rolf Rolfe has bet his last "bottom dollar" on Thunderbolt to win. When the horse discovers a bottle of moonshine and drinks it, Mickey has to costume two stable hands as a horse and ride them in the race or he'll break the Colonel's heart. From The Steeple Chase we have an amazing rough layout drawing showing Mickey going into Thunderbolt's stable. The drawing was rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. The piece has a studio stamp indicating this layout was used in two scenes, 12 and 24. It shows the animators as Ben/Strickland and Ben/Kinney. This is a very rare piece of animation art and would make a nice addition to any collection. The artwork has mild handling and edge wear with tiny pin holes in the upper portion. Toning due to the age of this vintage illustration. Condition is Very Good.
