    Description

The Skeleton Dance Animation Drawing Original Art (Walt Disney, 1929). Jerry Beck's influential book, The 50 Greatest Cartoons had this cartoon ranked #18. It was directed by Walt Disney with a score by Carl Stallings, and animated by Ub Iwerks with help from Les Clark and Wilfred Jackson. This is the very first Silly Symphony short ever released. It had test runs in Los Angeles and San Francisco in June of 1929, and was formally released on 8/22/29. Here is a great Ub Iwerks 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing of the Skeleton, as he walks and runs through the graveyard. It can be seen around the 1:58 mark. Art is in graphite with red pencil highlights on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper, with a nice full-figure image measuring 5". Matted with an opening of 11.5" x 9.5", framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 18" x 15.5". A print of a screen grab of this image is included. Frame is sold as-is; art condition is Very Good.
