The Shooting of Dan McGoo Red Hot Animation Drawings Dance Sequence of 12 (MGM, 1945). "And now introducing that little Army Charmer, that Navy Baby, that Marine Queen, the Lady that's known as Lou!" Red Hot makes another outstanding performance in this Tex Avery-directed short that starred Droopy. It was released on 3/3/45 and had Droopy going up against Wolfie in this short. Sara Berner was the sultry speaking voice of Red Hot, while Imogene Lynn provided her singing voice. Once again, Preston Blair animated Red Hot's dance sequence. This is a piece of animation history -- a series of twelve Preston Blair (1908 - 1995) original animation roughs for Red Hot's vivacious dance sequence in this short. She begins her song by saying to Wolfie, "Oh, beat it boy ya bother me!" She then breaks into "Put your arms around me Wolfie, hold me tight!" You can see these drawings around the 6:28 mark into the short. Art is in graphite on 12 field paper, with nice large image sizes averaging 8"; the images of her bow and twirl are amazing! Numbers on this impressive series of roughs are 280, 286, 288, 290, 292, 294, 296, 298, 300, 302, 304, and 306. This amazing sequence came from the Preston Blair Collection which was sold at a New York auction in the early 1990s. Some extra pegholes are in the drawings, most likely for a personal binder. Minor handling wear, edge wear and some creases, none by the artwork. Good condition.
