The Rescuers Madame Medusa Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1977).
"I want that diamond. I've got to have the Devil's Eye." Madame Medusa swats at her meek henchman, Mr. Snoops, with a baton - and berates him for bumbling their latest attempt to retrieve the world's largest diamond, the Devil's Eye from its resting place. The Rescuers was the 23rd animated feature film released by Disney. It was both a critical and commercial success, and ultimately inspired Disney's first animated sequel, The Rescuers Down Under. The film debuted on June 22nd, 1977 - and Woolie Reitherman, John Lounsbery, and Art Stevens all three shared the directing credit. The idea was originally proposed by Walt Disney himself, back in 1962, but was postponed until well after his death, when the story was further adapted for the screen. Notably, this was also Ollie Johnston's last film before retirement, after his 40 year career at the Disney studios. Madame Medusa has been described as one of the most expertly-animated of all Disney villains. Disney Legend Milt Kahl handled most of the animation of Medusa, and she was voiced by actress Geraldine Page. She is rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 16 field 3-peghole animation paper. Very large image measures nearly 8.5" high. Drawing is matted and framed under Plexiglass with a mat opening of 14.5" x 11" in a 19.5" x 16" frame; frame is sold as-is. Minor handling-wear. In Very Good condition.
