DescriptionThe Real Adventures of Johnny Quest Background Layout (Hanna-Barbera, 1996). This was the third pass at doing new Jonny Quest cartoons. (Please note a new Warner Brothers DVD set was recently released on this character). This new show was heavily promoted by TNT, TBS and the Cartoon Network. It premiered on 8/26/96 and it had 52 episodes produced and shown over two seasons. This lot is from the "Under Sea Urgency" episode. It was in Season Two and shown initially on 12/19/96. This is a detailed pan background layout drawing of underwater Verne Research Center that was part of what was to be the first underwater city. The art is from the hand of background designer and layout artist, Mr. Andrew (Drew) Gentile. Graphite with blue and colored pencil in amazing detail on 29" x 10.5" pan animation paper. A stunning piece of artwork on its own! Mr. Gentile began working for Hanna-Barbera in 1977 on the Super Friends animated series in 1977. One of the single most impressive Jonny Quest art pieces we have seen. Signed by the artist. Minor handling and edge wear. Condition is Very Good.
