DescriptionThe Practical Pig Practical Pig and Big Bad Wolf Animation Drawings Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1939).
The Practical Pig was the fourth and final Silly Symphony short to feature the Three Little Pigs. The film was actually billed as a "Three Little Pigs" cartoon, suggesting that there were imminent plans to give the porcine trio their own series. The rousingly popular "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" was once again featured in this cartoon - as it had been in all the Pigs' earlier entries. Fifer and Fiddler Pig both ignore their brother's warnings one day - and decide to go swimming in the local pond, even though the Big Bad Wolf is known to be lurking close by. Of course, they are captured, by the wolf. Meanwhile, Practical Pig has been at home, working on his new invention, a lie detecting machine. Portraying a messenger, the wolf delivers a desperate-sounding letter to Practical Pig's house - in the hopes of luring the porker outside. From The Practical Pig we have a fantastic sequence of four animation drawings. You will find this sequence around the 5:00 mark, in which the wolf is automatically strapped to Practical Pig's elaborate lie detector machine. "Where are my brothers?!" demands Practical. The drawing of Practical Pig measures roughly 6.5" x 8" and the drawings of the wolf average 5" x 5.5". The artwork is rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. Mild age-related toning. Very Good condition.
