The Picnic Pluto (as "Rover") Production Drawing (Walt Disney, 1930). The origins of Mickey's canine companion Pluto can be traced back to this early cartoon. In it, the dog is actually Minnie's pet, called "Rover," but in every other way, this is the first appearance of the character we all know and love as Pluto. And while an earlier cartoon, The Chain Gang, features two similar-looking hounds, neither display any of Pluto's loveable traits quite like in this short. Graphite on 12-field 2-peghole paper, marked #19 in the lower right. "Rover" is about 5" tall and about 7.5" long. Fine condition.
