The Pet Store Mickey and Minnie Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1933).
In Walt Disney's The Pet Store, Mickey gets a job at Tony's Pet Store. A movie ape named Beppo, kept at the store, becomes inspired by the 1933 film, King Kong, escapes his cage, abducts Minnie, and uses her as Fay Wray in a King Kong imitation. The Pet Store was released on 10/28/33 just seven months after RKO released the classic film, King Kong. From The Pet Store we have a superb drawing showing Beppo as he grabs Mickey and Minnie from behind. You will see this image at the 5:00 mark in this black and white short subject film. The piece was drawn using graphite on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. The image area measures approximately 9.5" x 6". The piece has slight toning of the paper due to aging; otherwise, the artwork is in Very Good condition.
