Description

The Night Before Christmas St. Nick Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1933). From the jolly Silly Symphony short The Night Before Christmas, based on the poem by Clement C. Moore, we offer in this lot a stupendous drawing of our famed protagonist, St. Nick. Released on December 9, 1933, under the direction of Wilfred Jackson, this whimsical cartoon had the iconic festive figure stopping at a house to drop Christmas presents. Pausing the short at the 5:53 timestamp will reveal the image of St. Nick created from this drawing, showing the not-so-jolly character trying to get the toys to return to their boxes after their cheerful ruckus woke up the children. The 12-field two-peghole drawing is numbered 79 in the bottom right corner and shows St. Nick measuring 5" x 5.25", done in graphite and colored pencil. Presenting reinforced pegholes, normal age-related toning, and mild handling and edge wear from production, the drawing is in Good to Very Good condition.
