Description
The Night Before Christmas BIG Tell-A-Tale Book Illustrations by Reisie Lonette Original Art (Whitman, 1965). This classic poem by Clement C. Moore has been featured in children's storybooks for generations, with different editions illustrated by many artists. Here are four exquisite illustrations created for a Whitman BIG Tell-A-Tale edition from 1965. Artist Reisie Lonette illustrated over 65 books during her career. These highly detailed, delicate illustrations are created in graphite, gouache, and watercolor on Bristol board; two pieces form a double-page spread showing Santa climbing down a chimney as his reindeer and sleigh wait on the snow-covered roof; the combined image measures approximately 10.5" x 6.25". The other two have image sizes of 3.5" x 4.25" (fairies floating out of Santa's pipe) and 4.25" x 3.5" (looking in the mirror). All have some staining from old tape in the outer borders; the two-page spread also has some minor creasing marks. Good to Very Good condition.Auction Info
