The Night Before Christmas Animation Layout Drawings (Walt Disney, 1933). A pair of vintage layouts from the 1933 Silly Symphony short, The Night Before Christmas. In traditional hand-drawn animation, layout artists define the perspective of the animation frames, the relative size of the objects in the background of a flat image, as compared to the action in the foreground, influences how viewers perceive the scene. In this loose adaptation of the poem, St. Nick is seen delivering the toys that he made in Santa's Workshop to a house full of sleeping children. The toys come alive, and they dance around and have fun. The kids then wake up to find a beautiful Christmas tree with lots of toys. Mickey Mouse puts in a "guest appearance" as a wind-up toy in the cartoon. This RARE set of drawings were beautifully detailed in graphite on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. Each piece has a studio stamp which indicates the scene and animator. The first piece indicates Louie Schmitt was the animator for the scene when Santa flies away. We LOVE the moon! The second piece indicates the animator as Disney Legend, Les Clark (1907 - 1979). Clark was also one of "Walt's Nine Old Men". The artwork is matted to 18" x 15.5" with a matboard aperture of 12" x 9". This vintage production art exhibits age-related toning, edge wear and smudges. Overall condition is Good.
