Description

The Marvel Super Heroes Storyboards (Grantray-Lawrence, 1966). This first Marvel cartoon series was made using photocopied images directly from the comics, manipulated to minimize the need for animation. Stories were adapted from Silver Age Marvel comic books showcasing art by various Marvel artists, and so the closing credits stated "Original artwork by Jack Kirby, Gene Colan, and Don Heck". This is a rare set of ten studio copies of the original storyboards for "The Mighty Thor" from the personal archive of Robert Lawrence. The art was used in the episodes "Vengeance of Loki" (Jack Kinney's name on top), "Defeat of Loki", "The Mysterious Mr. Hyde", "Revenge of Mr Hyde", "Showdown with Mr. Hyde" (2), "Verdict of Zeus", and "Thunder in Neverland", stapled together. These are possibly the only known copies of storyboards known to exist from this groundbreaking show. Also included is an interesting print of the Sub-Mariner on 12 field 5-peghole hard board; nice 7" image with a slight ink correction to the print. Minor handling and edge wear, slight fading; otherwise, in Good condition.
