The Mad Doctor Mickey Mouse and Pluto Animation Drawings Sequence of 3 (Walt Disney, 1933). Pluto happily bounds through the window after Mickey awakes from a nightmare about being captured by a Mad Doctor, in this set of three original 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings. This classic short was directed by David Hand, and released to theaters on 1/21/33. It's truly one of the scariest Mickey Mouse shorts ever; at the climax, our pint-sized hero is about to be cut in two by the Mad Doctor's machine! The cartoon was actually banned in England and Germany as being too frightening for children. These animation drawings are from the end of the short, beginning at the 6:40 mark. The art is in graphite and red pencil, while the pages are noted as 87, 152, and 162 in the bottom right corners. Mickey's figure size ranges from 2.5" to 3.75", and the overall image sizes are 9" x 4" (#87), 5.5" x 3.5" (#152), and 5.5" x 3.75" (#162). As a bonus, the last drawing treats us to the sight of Mickey's teeth, as Pluto licks his face! A wonderful sequence of drawings from one of Mickey's very best early shorts. Light paper toning, but only slight handling wear; Fine condition.
