Description

The Little Mermaid Ursula Animation Drawing Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1989). "The child is in love with a human. And not just any human. A prince!" From Disney's groundbreaking Renaissance film The Little Mermaid, we present a fabulous sequence of four 16 field animation drawings! Ursula has stolen the spotlight both in this lot and in this scene now that she has found the perfect pawn in her plot for revenge against King Triton. The sea witch was voiced by the late Pat Carroll and went through a variety of design changes during development, but it was finally decided to make her half octopus after the team watched a documentary about the sea creatures. Her human half was inspired by the drag queen Divine, who was well-known at the time. In the sequence, she cackles at how little she has to intervene, knowing how head over fins Ariel is for Eric after using her magic to spy on her, and the graphite with pencil drawings appear at about 27:20. The image sizes in this spectacular lot range from approximately 6.25'' x 5'' to 13'' x 10'' and are numbered 178, 184, 190, and 227 with dialogue notes in the top right corner of each page. With light edge and handling wear, faint edge toning, and additional pegholes attached at the top, Ursula is in Very Good condition.
