Description
The Little Mermaid "Poor Unfortunate Souls" Ursula Animation Drawing Sequence of 5 (Walt Disney, 1989). Ever the sea witch, Ursula puts the finest touches on her spell to take Ariel's voice as she chants, "Larynxis, glossitis, et max laryngitis, la voce to me!" That moment we all sat at the edge of our seats, watching Ursula be bathed in an eerie green glow, is the focus of this sequence of five 16 field animation drawings. All are rendered in graphite with color pencil and feature spectacular poses, including the first in the sequence! If you're looking through the film you can find them at the end of the "Poor Unfortunate Souls" sequence at roughly 44:35. This is the latter part of her spell, mixing medical terminology (Larynx, laryngitis, glossitis) and Italian for something along the lines of "your voice to me". These drawings capture Ursula's driving presence in the film, made all the more successful from the late Pat Carroll's impeccable voice acting, and range from approximately 3'' x 5'' to 5.5'' x 6.5''. Numbered 1, 45, 47, 63, and 117 in the lower right corner, the sequence includes timing charts on all but one page and is a must-have for fans of the unforgettable villain. Fair to Good condition overall with some edge and handling wear including faint to moderate toning, light edge tearing, mild creasing, and stains on two pages from a binder clip.Auction Info
