Description
The Jungle Book Animation Art Display (Walt Disney, 1967). A swinging safari that will please young and old alike! The premiere for the first animated feature film after Walt passed was held at the world famous Grumman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard in the heart of tinsel town on 10/18/67. The event was a fundraiser for the Los Angeles Zoo. This lot is an amazing studio set of three public presentation boards. The work was created by the Walt Disney Studios to showcase how their animated films were made. Disney artists used the Jungle Book as their example. Each piece is a large 32" x 40" crescent board. Board one is hand-painted "Steps in Making of a Walt Disney Production Animated Feature." The first board also has vintage images of Milt Kahl animating and Woolie Reitherman in a meeting with Ollie Johnston, Milt Kahl and Frank Thomas. A print of actual animation drawings of King Louie are shown with two unpainted cels of King Louie. Board two is about story. It shows a picture of Ken Anderson, and has prints of original storyboards, model sheets and two hand-painted story pieces in the setup. Board three has photos of the famous multiplane camera, and a woman from Ink and Paint working on a cel. Two actual King Louie hand-painted cels are in this setup. One is reversed to show the paint on the back of the cel, the other shows what the finished product looks like. This is nice large images of 7". A Jungle Book lobby card of King Louie is also in the setup. These three boards use King Louie to showcase how he begins and ends in the animation process. This is a very unique studio display piece. Most likely shown at a theater premiere or at Disneyland. Minor handling and edge wear; Overall Very Good condition.Auction Info
