Description
The Jetsons George Jetson Opening Title Sequence Animation Drawing with Flying Car Overlay Cel (Hanna-Barbera, 1962). "Hooba-dooba!" George Jetson has arrived at his job as a "digital index operator" (he pushes buttons) at Spacely Space Sprockets in this original 12 field animation drawing from the famous opening sequence; see it at about the 0:49 timestamp. This opening sequence was created for the original single-season 24-episode series that ran Sundays in prime time, with opposite killer competition (Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color and Dennis the Menace) the show was canceled after that one season. When it was shown in rerun form on Saturday mornings and in syndication is when the show finally began to gain popularity that grew and grew. The show was finally brought back in 1983 with the original voice cast for two more seasons and a feature film. George's graphite image measures approximately 3" x 4.25". The flying car is a custom overlay created from an original production drawing. The setup is matted with an opening of 10" x 7" and measures 15.5" x 13.5". A space where a small brass plaque was matted in with the art appears; the plaque is missing. The drawing is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
