Description
The Iron Giant - Iron Giant Greets a Baby Storyboard Animation Drawing for an Unused Scene (Warner Brothers, 1999). "I am not a gun." The fifty-foot-tall alien robot proves his gentle nature as he looks over a baby resident in the town of Rockwell in this storyboard prepared for the Warner Brothers Feature Animation production of The Iron Giant! Inspired by Ted Hughes' The Iron Man, Director Brad Bird and Jeff Lynch lead a team of story artists to develop the feature-length film adaptation that followed Hogarth Hughes, a young boy who befriends and attempts to protect the extraterrestrial Iron Giant from United States federal agents and the Military. Measuring approximately 8.5" x 6", this rough illustration is established in water-based ink and was prepared for a scene of the motion picture in which the curious Iron Giant greets a small baby human in the town of Rockwell. This "board" is in Very Good condition, exhibiting minor creases, graphite smudges, and wear from production. Though underperforming during its initial theatrical release, The Iron Giant is regarded as a modern animation classic and has developed quite a cult following in recent years.
